Today’s update comes from Meg Swank, an Elementary Education major at Pensacola Christian College. Please note that we were limited in what pictures we could take during our Christian school ministry today due to European privacy laws.
Meg’s Update:
Today we had an early start so we could drive to Barcelona before the bell rang to begin classes! Our group helped in the Synergy International School today. We sang as a group, then had testimonies by Jonathan and Kate before Dr. Watt closed with a devotional.
After the school-wide assembly, we broke into groups to help with specific jobs around the school. A team spent the morning setting up a tent for the graduation services next week, while other groups helped in classrooms.
I was in a combined first and second grade classroom where I directed the class with the help of other team members. Together, our classroom sang Bible songs, learned the Lord’s Prayer, read stories and did art projects throughout the day. This gave the students a chance to practice their English. It was encouraging to know that similar lessons were happening in other elementary classrooms! Our science and math majors held lectures and discussions for interested high school students. We also had Jonathan and Matthieu teaching French and Math respectively.
After a picnic lunch at the school we said our goodbyes to Jonathan and Matthieu, who we greatly enjoyed having with us on this trip! They are French university students who are serving the Lord in the midst of a very secular culture. It was a blessing to have them with us.
After dropping them off for their trip home we had a relaxed evening at the Ebenezer House in Girona, Spain.
Upcoming:
Tomorrow is Saturday, so we are heading out for a day of fun and exploration in Tarragona, Spain. On Sunday, we will be with the Pinyols in Castelbisbal for church.
