Hello from Barcelona! Today’s update is from Alyssa Silliman, a graphic design major at Pensacola Christian College; and Caleb Doering who graduated in May with a degree in Biology.
Alyssa’s Update:
Today we started the morning off by driving to Pastor Peter Pinyol’s church in Castellbisbal which is about an hour and a half away. While we were at Iglesia Biblica Bautista De Castellbisbal, we sang “At the Cross” in Spanish and English for the congregation. Dr. Adam Watt preached for the service.
You can view a recording of the service here: Permaneciendo Firmes – Adam Watt – YouTube
As we were leaving. a lady from the church came up to me thanking the group for visiting and singing. She told me that we were a big encouragement to her to see young people living for the Lord. She had told me she was praying for her own family members to come back to the Lord and that seeing us gave her hope. It was very encouraging to me to see that even through the language barrier we were still able to be a testimony for many people in the church.
Caleb’s Update:
The team had a great time at Iglesia Biblica Valle de Hebron with Pastor Josué Valcárcel today. The church provided a great lunch that the team thoroughly enjoyed. We all had opportunities to practice our Spanish with the people that we sat next. After lunch we had a mini presentation where Dr. Alvarez and Miss Hartkopf presented the team. After the presentation two team members gave their testimonies. I had the privilege to share the gospel message as part of my testimony and Sarah Pletcher shared how God called her to the missions field as a medical missionary. Afterwards the team sang En La Cruz for the church.
After the service, the team was privileged to be a stand-in audience to help a church member (the daughter of Peter and Rosa Pinyol) practice for her piano recital.
We have been blessed to have Antonio cooking amazing meals for us each night at Camp Eben-Ezer. Tonight’s special was paella. France and Spain both think they have the best paella, but I think they are both excellent.
Tomorrow:
Tomorrow morning, the team will work on preparing presentations that they will use in the Synergy Christian School on Tuesday. In the afternoon, the team will visit a missionary family outside of Barcelona.
