Hi! I’m Danica, a senior speech education major, from Ontario, Canada! Today was the second day of our day camp, or casal, as they call it in Spanish. I am one of the leaders for the youngest team, or the littles, as I can them. Our 7 kids are between the ages of 4 and 7 and most of them do not speak any English. This has been a growing challenge for myself. I grew up in Costa Rica, which gave me a foundation for Spanish, however, I struggle with speaking conversationally. I have spent years dealing with anxiety over speaking in Spanish, afraid to make a mistake and sound terrible, but God has been so good with removing this anxiety this week! I have spent so much time, talking with the kids and other adults in Spanish and really enjoying it. The kids are darlings and so eager to play and learn and be loved. We have been greeted with open arms, by the church and the community, and we have definitely been putting our time to good use. Between the casal and helping Pastor Josh with a work project at Camp Eben-Ezer, we still find time to jump into the pool, take naps in the car, and make great memories with the team! This trip has been a huge blessing already and I can’t wait to see what surprises and adventures are next!

This update comes from Troy, a 2024 PCC finance graduate from Georgia. “Today was the third day of our day camp in Spain. It has been great so far! The Lord has blessed us with 24 kids for the day camp which was more than expected. My group has 8 kids ages 7-11. We have been playing games, memorizing Bible verses, and teaching English. They are a very lively group, and they have been learning fast. Today we taught them new vocabulary words by incorporating them into a game of charades, and we also taught them how to sing “Jesus Loves Me” in English. We have two days left of day camp, and I am excited to see what the Lord will do throughout the rest of the week!”
Projects at Camp Eben-Ezer
In the evenings, the team has been working on projects at Eben-Ezer. The two projects are to put up a new fence and to repaint the kiddie pool. While at camp, the team has been able to experience the beautiful, sunny weather of Spain, and watch the sun rise and set over the mountains.
