Monday was our first day of VBS in Barcelona at Església Bíblica Vall d’Hebron; and though the learning curve was steep, our team did a great job of adapting to the newness of it all. The most difficult aspect has probably been getting all of the children to try using more English even though it intimidates some of them. However, as our team members get to know each child and build relationships with them, the children are coming out of their shells and showing more effort to learn. Tuesday was even better as the children continued learning their verses and songs for week.
One of our teammates Michael had this to say: “Seeing these kids open up to us despite the language barrier is heart-warming, and it’s encouraging to see their patience with us as we teach them English. It’ll be fun to see how our relationship grows with them throughout the week.”
Miss Reynolds commented: “The spirit of these kids is amazing! They are eager to please and willing to listen and try new things, which has been really encouraging to me. Seeing a couple of them take chances and be brave makes me want to be brave too. It was so neat to have their full attention and participation in the Bible lesson I taught on Monday. I was able to use the different colors on a Gospel presentation bracelet to teach them how they could share the Gospel and grow as Christians. Doing it in Spanish was a bit of a challenge, but the kids made it all worth it!”
